"We're Having a Baby!"

Sharing the news of baby Suttle with our family was something Adam and I were very excited to do! Since we were a bit surprised ourselves, we wanted to share that experience with our families and give them a sweet surprise as well.

For our parents, we waited until the Saturday after finding out on Monday that baby was coming...which was extremely hard to do!  I usually call my mom anytime I have any sort of news, and this was the biggest secret I have ever had to keep from her, and for 5 whole days! We pretty much kept our distance from speaking to either of our parents that week, making sure though they would both be at home on Saturday.  It was important to us to do something  a little extra special for them since this will the first grand-baby for both of them. We made our little surprise packages for them both, and headed to make our rounds!

We had to tell my mom to move a little closer.
She thought whatever in there was going to jump out at her I think. :)

 Happy Grandparents to be...in shock!

Happy Grandparents to be!

For my sister and brother-in-law, it killed us not to get to tell them in person, but being that they live three hours away and we couldn't hold it in any longer, we decided to Facetime them to share the news. They had just been on a vacation out West all week, so we told them we wanted to hear all about it. After hearing every detail of their week's trip through the mountains, they were about to hang up when we said, "Wait! We have some news!" That's when I held the sign up that I made for them up to the screen...and waited for a response.  Let's just say my sister was definitely in SHOCK! It took her a minute, and then she responded, excited, shocked, excited, shocked. They are now beyond excited to be Aunt and Uncle for the first time!

We wanted to get all of our Grandparents together to tell them at once, but since my Great-Gran was currently in the nursing home, we decided to go deliver the good news to her while my Grandmother was there visiting her as well.  She was 102 when we shared the news with her, that she was going to be a Great-Great Gran! We since lost her in January, but having the opportunity to share this news with her and have these photos mean the world to me. Her exact words when my Grandmother leaned over and said, I'm going to be the Great-Grandmother now were, "Yeah, but you'll never be as great as I am."  She's amazing, and always had the quickest comebacks to keep us laughing.
This moment was so special for Adam and I to share with them.

Since we had just moved into our new house, we rang up all of our Grandparents and invited them down on Sunday afternoon so we could "show them our house" since we had mostly gotten unpacked and were beginning to get settled in. Little did they know, they were in for much more than just seeing our new home. They were delighted to hear the news that they are all now going to be Great-Grandparents!

It was such a treat for us to get to share this news with them altogether in our home.  Our parents were there as well to share in the good news and see their parents' responses.
They are all very excited soon to be Great-Grandparents!!

Adam's brother and future sister-in-law were also a part of this big day! We were so excited to share the news with them! It's going to be a big 2015, as they become husband and wife and uncle and aunt to our newest family member. We can't wait for Haley to officially be a part of our Suttle family!

We feel so fortunate to have such an amazing and supportive family, and we can't wait to have our little one around to add to the family! Everyone is excited to meet you, sweet Baby Suttle!

A little California getaway

We all know I love traveling to new places. Back in November, I got to go on a much needed getaway with my hubs, to tag along on his work trip. If you haven't ever been to Palm Springs/Palm Desert...you really should consider it!

While he was at his work conference, I managed to treat myself to morning workouts at the resort gym (yes - that was a treat since baby had just allowed me to start feeling like working out again), sit by the pool everyday, eat good food, enjoy the best massage I've ever had, and FINISH a novel that I brought along with me.  The finish a novel for me part was a major accomplishment - I know...pathetic, but completing a book these days is quite the task. Dinners at night with my Mr. were relaxing and a great time to spend with each other, after our busy season of moving into our home, and finding out that we are about to become us THREE!

Here are few of my favorite snaps of the gorgeous scenery. I literally couldn't get over how beautiful it was. I wouldn't usually describe a golf course as stunning either, but Adam got to golf it one of the days, and it truly is stunning.  The only thing missing there is the beach, but we got to that a little later in our trip.
View from our room...those mountains!
Walking back from the gym each morning made going to the gym even more worth it - that view!
The little duckies kept me company during the day when they came in for their swim every little bit. I usually don't like swimming with animals, but these little guys sure were cute.
Sunset from our room balcony - might I add that this is straight off my phone with no fancy editing filters - the desert sunsets really are that gorgeous.
Don't let me fool you, it wasn't all work and no play for Mr. Suttle - he also got to enjoy a little pool side sun as well! :)

Next stop....
My hubs made me a very excited Mrs. when we woke up on our last morning in Palm Desert, and he told me we were driving over to DISNEYLAND for the day! I love Disney, and anytime we get to go is a great day for me! The last time we were at Disneyland was when we were living in San Diego, so it had been long enough! We had no problem being a couple of kiddies for the day and riding all of the kid rides - honestly, spare yourself when you're pregnant though because "expectant mothers" can't ride most rides there, or at least without getting funny looks -- kidding! I was a good girl.  The fact that they had just decorated Disney for Christmas made this visit so exciting because we had never seen it that time of year before. It's too cute!

Those California clear blue skies though...can't beat it!
It was a fun day, and knowing our little bambino was in there with us made it so exciting!
Can't wait to come back with the three of us!

Third and Final...
We drove back to LA late that night (we are Disney from open to just about close people) and stayed the night in Santa Monica, which made for waking up on the beach the icing to our trip. We share a love for the beach that never gets old. It warms my heart every single time!
We had to make Baby Suttle's first beach trip memorable of course. ;)

That's a wrap on our November week getaway! If the following week wouldn't have been Thanksgiving, I would not have gotten on that plane to come home. Home is amazing, but each time I go back to California, a little piece of my heart wishes I could stay.

Until next time...

Here comes BABY Suttle!

When I was making something for our announcement, we couldn't think of a better thing to say.
It's so true, to say the least! You are our greatest adventure!

Right in the middle of our "plan" God likes to throw us a curve ball.  We couldn't have asked for a more exciting curve ball, and we are just beside ourselves about the news of little baby Suttle arriving May 7th, 2015.  I'm thankful that God guides our steps, and he always has exciting things in store for us! From getting to live in San Diego, Chicago, come back to Nashville, buy a home this year, and now BABY...we are thrilled with our adventures, but this one is by far the greatest! We are so excited, nervous to be parents, but beyond thankful that God is trusting us to be a mommy and daddy to this sweet little peanut. Adam's excitement is more than I could ever ask for, and I already see that he's going to be the most amazing daddy out there. He's already read the majority of What To Expect When Expecting, which is more than I can say.

Excited about our growing little family of soon to be 3! Now to find out...boy or girl! Counting the days!

It's been too long!

Welp, it's been since January since I have posted on my lovely little blog here. That's embarrasing. Oh how many times little thoughts have ran through my head that I have thought, I need to post about that. And then I didn't, so there's that. Since January...let's see... I've started a buisness with my childhood bestie back in Nashville. It's called Everly Deer, and we are stylists for events, photo shoots -you name it, we will style it! You should go check that blog out (everlydeer.com) because that is where my heart and soul have been for the most part of this year. Having a business with your best friend is fun and exciting, and starting any new business is a lot of work! Lucky us that we love what we do, so work doesn't exactly feel like "work" when we are together. What else?? Well, Adam and I decided back before summer that it was time we begin the house hunt! This blog has shared our journey around San Diego, Chicago, and then our move back to Nashville. When we signed up to be first time home buyers, we were extremely excited, but we didn't really know what we were getting ourselves into. Let's just say that the house hunt in Nashville this summer was a bit competitive. We probably looked at over 40 homes over a few weeks, but none of them seemed to feel like the right house for us. One day Adam and I were driving around, not even viewing homes, and stumbled upon a new construction beauty on a street that we had never even been on before. Something in both of us got really excited, even though we could barely tell what the house was going to look like because it had just been framed! We jumped out and walked through, and it felt different from all the rest. That's when you know you need to jump on it! After going back to see it again, our nervous stomachs waited to hear if the house was available because at that time most houses with a sign in the yard were already sold by the time the sign went up in the yard. Long story short, we got our dream starter home in an amazing neighborhood in Nashville, and we couldn't be more excited! I, of course, was obsessed with the fact that we got to pick every detail of our home out since we found it so early on in its home building stage - that was the most fun thing ever! Maybe I'll get around to posting some photos of it at some point over the next few weeks...unpacking boxes must come first - I'm a bit OCD about that. I guess that's something that happens when you move every single year of your life. Guess what I'm not doing next year....moving! :) I love my home and the handsome studly man that I get to share it with. While a hobby and love of mine is decorating things, a home isn't about its appearance or things inside it. It's about who you share it with, the memories made in it, and the fun times to be had. Get ready friends, there's sure to be lots of food and good times coming soon in the new Suttle casa! Thank you God for providing us our first home! Start walking people, and he will truly guide your steps. :)

Roadtrip down to Alabama!

Well, since it's Thursday - I have an excuse to do a post from back in November. #tbt

The hubs and I (plus our 2 pups) got to do something extra special...road trip it down to Birmingham to see my sister and brother-in-law.  It is so nice to live close enough to each other that we can do weekend trips. This was our first time to spend the weekend in Birmingham, and I was surprised at how cute of a little city it is.
Holt & Jennifer - Downtown Homewood
Adam, Jennifer, Holt outside the new Birmingham baseball field

They were such good hosts and took us to all the cute little areas of the city, yummy restaurants, and the local sites.  The weekend was great, but the best part was spending it with Mr. and Mrs. Coltharp and having them host us for the first time since they had gotten married.  I couldn't have hand picked my brother-in-law any better myself, and we love spending time with them!  So grateful for my sweet sissy who I couldn't do life without and her darling of a hubs, Holt.
Good People Brewing Co. - such a fun place!

Thanks Jenn & Holt for an awesome weekend getaway!
